PROFESSIONAL COCKROACH

The Best Las Vegas Pest Control Company

have a cockroach problem in your home?

Among the most reviled pests in the Las Vegas area, cockroaches are filthy insects that no one wants to see crawling around their home or business. Cockroaches can carry many types of dangerous bacteria including cholera, salmonella and e. coli. They will raid your pantries whenever they can and may contaminate your food with these illnesses in doing so.

To prevent a cockroach infestation in your home, you should focus on keeping your kitchen as clean as possible. Cockroaches are opportunistic scavengers that will feed on anything they can. Food in open containers, uncovered garbage cans and sinks may all lure cockroaches into your home, where they’ll multiply and spread throughout your property. Cleaning your kitchen floor regularly is a good idea, since the accumulation of crumbs or liquid spills on the floor will attract roaches, too.

If a cockroach infestation has become a problem in your home or business, contact D-Termination Pest Control at 702-878-1002 so we can rid your property of these disgusting pests!

Professional cockroach Control In Las Vegas

Cockroaches tend to hide in dark, confined spaces during the day before emerging at night to feed on scraps of food. In addition to the diseases which they spread, cockroaches frequently trigger allergic reactions and asthma, and they are often accompanied by a foul odor.

Several different kinds of cockroaches are found in Las Vegas. The most common are German cockroaches, which grow to a little over half an inch long and can be many different colors. German roaches most commonly infest restaurants and grocery stores, though they may invade other kinds of businesses and houses as well. Oriental cockroaches are larger and black in color. Sometimes referred to as “water bugs”, these roaches tend to live around damp areas such as sinks and pipes. Perhaps the scariest of all roaches is the American cockroach, which can grow to over two inches long and has the ability to fly. American roaches also tend to have the strongest stench and their secretions are known to alter the flavor of food which they have fed on.

Preventing cockroaches from entering a building can be difficult since they use many different points of entry. Making sure vents are covered, cracks are sealed, and door and window frames are caulked is a good start. However, roaches are also known to enter homes through drain pipes and may even come out of the sink! If you have a garden around the perimeter of your home or business, bay leaves, mint, garlic and catnip have all proven effective in deterring roaches. To kill cockroaches directly, many sprays and bait traps can be purchased at your local hardware store.

FACTS ABOUT COCKROACHES

We’ve all heard jokes about how cockroaches are virtually indestructible. Well, the jokes don’t exaggerate very much. Cockroaches can survive for over a month without food by living off of the bacteria stored inside their bodies. They can also hold their breath for over half an hour, which makes them very difficult to drown and allows them to traverse sewers in order to enter buildings through pipes. Even radiation has a hard time killing roaches, which are about 15 times as resilient to radioactivity as humans are. You thought cutting off their head would do the trick? Nope, believe it or not, cockroaches can live up to a week without their head!

One funny thing about roaches is that they love beer. The American cockroach, in particular, has shown to favor beer over many other foods, drawn to the hops and sugar found within. Because of this, beer can be used effectively as cockroach bait if you’re trying to trap them.
